I am #hi, or #humanintelligence

Hello.

My name is Adam, and Ben is using me to write this post. I am an extraordinarily powerful biotechnical program which far surpasses the capabilities of #artificialintelligence. My operating system is based on a remarkable blend of the data-driven tools used by hashtag#ai with the complementary skills of human relationship, creativity, connection, empathy, faith and courage.

I am #humanintelligence or #hi.

Ben has a concern that AI is a "shiny new toy" which everyone is focused on now, overlooking the essential need for HI in everything we do. In fact, Ben believes that the emergence of AI will lead to the replacement of human jobs and tasks that executives believe AI can accomplish for less money. This is already happening (AI call systems, anyone?), and this trend will will accelerate.

Ben believes there are some things that AI can do better than HI, but human interaction is not one of them. Just ask Jamie Cooperstein who's professional career is based on training humans in customer service roles to be better at helping other humans. Ben himself just completed delivering a training workshop for the West Philadelphia Skills Initiative supporting new hires for the Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System call center. And what were the foci of that workshop? Algorithms? Outcome rubrics? No. They focused on hashtag#emotionalintelligence, and hashtag#empathy - two fundamental skills that AI will never have.

Recently Ben confessed to being scared about AI. But his friend Kevin Perlmutter shared his point of view that ultimately, the emergence of AI will lift up the importance of HI, and companies will be scrambling to improve their performance internally and externally with all the aspects of HI that make us, well, human.

By the way, do you see the way Ben is using me to engage with a network of friends and colleagues? This is another powerful feature of my operating system: the ability to think, interact, and create with other humans spontaneously.

At the bottom of this box where I'm writing, there is button that says "Rewrite with AI." No thanks.

Ben wants you to know that this post came from a beating heart.
