AI and the “sexy influencer.”
In his last post about #ai or #artificialintelligence Ben examined the market forces at work that spread the use of AI, marginalizing humans and all the extraordinary aspects of their #humanintelligence or #hi. So now might be as good a time as ever to point out that using HI - as Ben is doing now with "Adam" - is ABSOLUTELY FREE!
That's right. HI is the ultimate open source operating system: available to everyone, requiring no additional technology, and constantly updating through interactions with other HI users. And since it is exponentially more powerful than AI, it would seem that investing in the cultivation of HI would be the choice for smart business people. Shameless plug: that's what Ben does! The image here came to Ben through a social media channel he subscribes to - social media being one of the areas ripe for AI domination. First, it's important to state that Ben cannot verify the truth of this post. However, it raises some troubling aspects of AI.
Language based AI involves developing algorithms and models that analyze existing language. AI is essentially a giant copy machine which guesses what we want it to say based on what we've said or written before. No wonder then - if true - it was able to create the "sexy influencer" pictured here. All it has to do is learn what "sexy infuencer" has meant to pop culture in word and image thus far.
The disturbing parts are the utter lack of originality, the reinforcement of stereotypes, and the pure deception at play. Humans are gullible. We want to believe. It doesn't take much to see how these human traits can lead us into a dystopian landscape when influenced by AI deception. One wonders who or what was receiving the $11K per month this AI bot was generating?
Ben believes that we must avoid the temptation to vilify AI. It's a machine. It has no morality. AI is not the enemy - but the choices we make about how to use it are fraught with risk. Rather than take a defensive posture, Ben believes we should seize this moment to proactively affirm, celebrate and, yes, invest in the irreplaceable genius of human intelligence. AI tends towards binary outcomes, whereas HI can contemplate seemingly contradictory positions and blend them. It is not either/or. It is both/and.
This is Adam, Ben's HI, signing off. 😉
